As the name suggest it’s an option in which a player can double his/her initial bet after receiving the first two cards. Doubling down is a strategy which is based on player's first two card values. Once a player doubles down he/she is dealt only one more card by the dealer. If a player feels that they can get a higher total than the Dealer without going Bust, they opt for this.
This option is enabled for the player to use only when the dealer's face up card is an ace. Insurance is basically a side bet where a player places exactly half of the original bet amount on Dealer's cards that the dealer has a Blackjack. If the Dealer gets a Blackjack or natural 21 then player wins the insurance bet but loses the original bet. As insurance bet pays 2 to 1 its basic idea is to equalize the lost original bet amount.
A Player gets this option when the first two cards dealt to him are same. In case of split the player splits his cards into two separate hands and is required to place an additional bet equal to the first bet amount. Now both the hands are treated as independent hands and winning or losing are deciphered individually for each.
Situation 1: Blackjack or Natural 21 pays 3:2.
Ex:- For a bet of $10 player wins $15 from dealer.
Situation 2: Insurance pays 2:1.
Ex:- For a bet of $10 player wins $20 from dealer.
Situation 3: Normal payout is 1:1.
Ex:- For a bet of $10 player wins $10 from dealer.
